How do we inhale atmospheres of uncertainty and change? How do we cope as living bodies? How can we open up unspoken body-to-body communications in the therapeutic space? What do our clients’ living bodies speak about uncertainty and change?
At the 18th British Gestalt Journal Seminar day, Julianne Appel-Opper will help us to explore how we and our clients embody uncertainty and change in a co-created field. Concepts such as ‘widening the field’ will be introduced and discussed, and there will be the opportunity to explore a ‘moving supervision’ in which Gestalt field theory comes alive. Exploring the field as two living bodies, therapist and supervisor move and are moved.
Julianne has developed an approach to relational body work within an integrative Gestalt frame of working from a present-centred, creative, existential, experimental and phenomenological background. Over the years, she has researched the field of embodiment in psychotherapy. Focussing on how the therapist physically resonates with the client’s embodied stories, she has developed new ways of intervention into an explicit body-to-body-communication which is powerful and supports healing and change. These concepts connect with the relational turn taken by contemporary Gestalt therapy.
Julianne offers a safe and respectful space for exploration of these processes. Her concepts such as ‘widening the field’ and ‘holes of emotional neglect’ will be introduced and combined with short experiments and reflections.
With 30 years’ clinical experience as a psychotherapist and trainer, Julianne is now in private practice in Berlin and continues to work internationally as a visiting tutor at several psychotherapy training institutes, as well as presenting at conferences. She is the founder and director of ‘Relational Living Body Psychotherapy: Developing Embodied Interventions and Experiments’. This Berlin-based series of workshops supports therapists in developing/deepening their sensitivity and understanding of bodily and inter-bodily processes.
A vegetarian lunch will be provided on the day. If you have any specific dietary requirements please email email@example.com.
