Terms and Conditions for Submissions

By submitting an article for consideration by Gestalt Publishing Ltd (“GPL”) for publication in the British Gestalt Journal (“the Journal”), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Parties
This agreement is between:
The Author: the individual(s) who submit an article for publication, and
The Publisher: Gestalt Publishing Ltd (GPL)

2. Submission and Copyright Assignment
2.1 By submitting an article for consideration, the Author confirms that they are the beneficial owner of the work and agrees to assign worldwide copyright in the submitted article (including the abstract and any associated material) to GPL for the full term of copyright.
2.2 This assignment includes the right for GPL to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and make the article available in all formats and media, whether now known or developed in the future. This includes, but is not limited to, print, online, electronic databases, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, microfiche, and other formats appropriate for the Journal’s readership.
2.3 The assignment of copyright is made in consideration of GPL’s undertaking to evaluate, prepare, and potentially publish the article in the British Gestalt Journal.
2.4 If the article is not published within one year of submission, GPL will relinquish its claim to copyright unless a reasonable extension of time has been agreed with the Author.
3. Editorial Rights
3.1 The Editor of the Journal and GPL reserve the right to make editorial changes necessary to ensure clarity, consistency, accuracy, and suitability for publication.
3.2 Where substantive changes are required, GPL will make reasonable efforts to consult with the Author.
4. Moral Rights
4.1 The Author asserts their moral right to be identified as the author of the article in accordance with the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
4.2 The Author also retains the right to object to derogatory treatment or distortion of the work.
5. Author Warranties
By submitting an article, the Author warrants that:
a) the article is original and has not been previously published;
b) the article is not under consideration for publication elsewhere;
c) the article does not contain any defamatory, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable material;
d) the article does not infringe the rights (including copyright) of any third party; and
e) the Author has the legal right to assign copyright to GPL.
6. Joint Authorship
6.1 Where the article has been jointly authored, the submitting Author confirms that they have obtained the consent of all co-authors to agree to these Terms and Conditions on their behalf.
7. Author Retained Rights
7.1 Notwithstanding the assignment of copyright, the Author retains the right to:
use the content of the article for personal teaching and research purposes; and
publish and share the article’s metadata (including abstract, keywords, and DOI).
7.2 In all such cases, full citation of the British Gestalt Journal as the original source must be given, together with a live link to the published version on www.britishgestaltjournal.com.
7.3 Further use of the article elsewhere after publication is permitted only with the prior consent of the Journal’s Editor and with appropriate acknowledgment of the Journal as the original publisher.
8. Copyright Administration and Distribution
8.1 GPL acquires copyright in order to protect the work internationally, manage permissions efficiently, and enable the widest possible dissemination of published material.
8.2 GPL may work with third-party organisations, databases, libraries, and licensing agencies (including the Copyright Licensing Agency) to distribute, license, or make articles available to institutions and readers.
8.3 Any income derived from these activities is used to support and develop the British Gestalt Journal.
9. Special Employment Circumstances
9.1 Where the Author’s employer owns the copyright, the Author confirms that the employer consents to these Terms, or that appropriate authority has been obtained.
9.2 UK government employees grant GPL a non-exclusive licence to publish the article, subject to Crown Copyright and retained user rights.
9.3 For U.S. government employees, this agreement applies only to the extent permitted by U.S. law.
10. Acceptance of Terms
Submission of an article to Gestalt Publishing Ltd constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions in full.
